Through the creation of the Genesis luxury brand, Hyundai loses the Genesis sedan and Equus while the Genesis coupe has been discontinued. Despite the news of the departures of two premium nameplates, Hyundai's 2017 model lineup is vibrant highlighted by a new model introduction. Created as a dedicated product for electrified motoring, the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq vehicle range will feature a conventional hybrid, plug-in hybrid and a fully electric powertrain. A six-speed dual-clutch transmission will be incorporated with the hybrid and plug-in hybrid version of the Ioniq hatchback. The all-electric Hyundai Ioniq is slated to have a travel distance of 110 miles. Hyundai's popular compact car, the Elantra, receives a complete redesign for 2017. A progression from the elegant previous generation model, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra's new styling is supported by a lighter but stronger structure made possible through the increased use of high strength steel. Crossovers Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport models gain a significant 2017 upgrade. Among changes to the two Hyundai crossovers are a new front end design, revised alloy wheels, standard five-inch LCD display audio screen and added available safety equipment. The Sonata line, Accent, Veloster, Tucson and Azera return with mild to moderate updates in 2017.
