Electronic stability control and tire pressure monitoring is more widely offered while the Chevrolet Cobalt gains standard side airbags on all models. The mid-sized Chevrolet Malibu sedan has been completely redesigned for 2008 taking on a more sophisticated existence inside and outside. An all-new LS3 V-8 engine is now included with the base 2008 Chevrolet Corvette bringing its output to 430 horsepower (30 horsepower more than the previous engine). For 2008, Chevrolet has discontinued their personal coupe known as the Monte Carlo as well as the supercharged sport compact Cobalt SS coupe. For the Cobalt, a turbocharged Sport model is added for 2008. Providing greater city fuel economy with a two-mode transmission, a hybrid version of the Chevrolet Tahoe debuts.
