Available as a five-passenger coupe or sedan, the totally redesigned 1999 Pontiac Grand Am is a sporty compact. The base engine is a 2.4L four-cylinder engine which produces 150 hp. Available on the SE2 trim is a 3.4L V6 which produces 170 hp. The top of the line GT trim uses a 3.4L V6 as well, but squeeze 175 hp out of it. All versions use a four-speed automatic transmission and are rated at or near 30 mpg on the highway.
