The 2013 Kia Sorento is a crossover SUV that could be considered a large compact or a small midsize vehicle within that category. When it was introduced in 2002, it was a body-on-frame (truck-based) model, but in its second generation a unibody version was introduced to the U.S. market, starting with the 2011 model year. The 2013 Kia Sorento comes with a choice of a 4-cylinder or a V-6 engine, and ordinarily seats 5, but two more passengers can be accommodated with available third-row seats. The Kia Sorento's main competitors include the Dodge Journey, Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Escape, Toyota Venza, and Mazda CX-9. The 2013 Kia Sorento is available in five trim levels: LX, LX V6, EX V6, SX, and Limited.

Exterior Features

The 2013 Kia Sorento is available in nine exterior colors: Sage Green, Snow White Pearl, Bright Silver, Dark Cherry, Remington Red, Satin Metal, Wave Blue, Titanium Silver, and Ebony Black. Not all colors are available on all trim levels. The Sorento LX features 17-inch alloy wheels; the EX V6 upgrades to 18-inch alloy wheels. The SX features 19-inch machine-finished alloy wheels, while the Limited version boasts 19-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels. Standard on all Sorentos are dual body-color heated power mirrors with LED turn signal indicators. Power-folding side mirrors are standard on the upper trim levels, optional on the lower. Other features that are standard on some trim levels and available on others include illuminated door handle pockets, a rear spoiler, panoramic sunroof with power sunshade, and roof rails (chrome finished on the upper trim levels). Standard on the upper trim levels but otherwise unavailable are front and rear stainless steel accent plates; body-color front and rear bumpers, side sills, and moldings; chrome-finished dual exhaust; self-leveling xenon HID headlights; and front and rear LED lights.

Interior Features

The Sorento LX includes black or grey cloth upholstery. Standard interior features include the EcoMinder fuel-efficiency indicator, trip computer, manual air conditioning, power windows and locks, and USB/auxiliary input jacks. Also standard is an AM/FM/CD/MP3/SiriusXM audio system. Standard features on the upper trim levels include leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, dual-zone air conditioning, rear seat air conditioning, push-button start, an infotainment system, navigation system, and various safety features. Premium Nappa leather upholstery is standard on the Sorento Limited. A power-adjustable driver's seat is added to the EX V6 trim level, and the passenger seat is adjustable at the SX level. Heated front seats are standard on the upper trim levels; they're ventilated on the LX and Limited. The rear seat features a 40/20/40 split-folding configuration; 50/50 split-folding third-row seats are optional on all Sorentos. Maximum cargo space is 72.5 cubic feet.

Optional Features

Many of the standard features on the upper trim levels are available on the LX and LX V6 trim levels as part of the Convenience, Premium, and Touring option packages. The EX V6 Touring package is offered for the middle trim level. Individual options include an auto-dimming mirror with HomeLink, cargo mat, cargo tray, carpeted floor mats, illuminated scuff plate, mudguards, rear bumper protector, tow hitch, cargo cover, cargo net, crossbars, interior lighting, side step bars, and wheel locks.
