New for 2016: Land Rover

For 2016, the British Land Rover premium SUV brand, which was acquired by India’s Tata Motors in 2008, adds a few extras to its athletic Discovery Sport small SUV that replaced the LR2 for the 2015 model year. Also, mid-year, it will introduce the 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible, which will offer a sporty, open-air Land Rover ride. On its way out after 68 years on the market is the brand’s iconic, rugged Defender SUV, though it could return as a new model in the future. The flagship Range Rover SUV, built on an all-new aluminum unibody platform, is available in a full-featured, sporty, techy, and fashion-conscious SVAutobiography trim level that will retail for more than $200,000. Also, both the Range Rover and the midsize Range Rover Sport will be available this year with a turbodiesel V-6 engine option that reportedly gets 32% better fuel economy than the gasoline V-6-powered version.
