New for 2014: GMC

2014 GMC Overview

Like its corporate twin, Chevrolet, GMC is launching a completely redesigned light-duty pickup truck for the 2014 model year. The Sierra 1500 delivers new styling, new V-6 and V-8 engines, increased capability and efficiency, added safety technology, and unique features like LED illumination in the pickup bed.

The rest of the GMC lineup has been upgraded to varying degrees, as well. Standard power windows and door locks are the highlight for the 2014 GMC Savana van, while the Terrain crossover is treated to new paint colors and wheels, and SLE versions of the Yukon and Yukon XL gain additional standard features. Rounding things out is the 2014 GMC Acadia, now equipped with extra USB charging ports and new safety features, and a Sierra HD available with a spray-on bedliner and bi-fuel V-8 engine.

2014 GMC Acadia

GMC updated its 3-row Acadia crossover SUV in 2013, so changes for 2014 are minimal. The top-of-the-line Acadia Denali gains more standard safety features, and designers have added two rear-seat USB ports to facilitate charging of increasingly common portable devices like smartphones and tablets.

What's New

  • Denali trim level adds standard forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning systems (optional on SLT-1 and SLT-2)
  • Two rear-seat charge-only USB ports

2014 GMC Savana

The GMC Savana cargo and passenger vans carry on for another model year with changes limited to new colors and the addition of standard power windows and door locks.

What's New

  • Passenger Van gains standard power windows and door locks
  • Paint colors

2014 GMC Sierra 1500

GMC has overhauled its light-duty Sierra 1500 pickup for 2014, with the end result being a truck that offers new styling, three more powerful and efficient engines, greater capability, added safety features, improved handling, and a more comfortable ride.

2014 GMC Sierra HD

A new Sierra HD is on deck for 2015, but until that truck arrives, the 2014 model receives a few updates of its own. These include a new spray-on bedliner, 4.10 axle ratio that increases towing capacity, and a new bi-fuel V-8 engine capable of using compressed natural gas (CNG) or gasoline.

What's New

  • Optional spray-on bedliner
  • Standard 4.10 axle ratio
  • Increased standard towing capacity
  • Available V-8 engine can run on CNG or gasoline

2014 GMC Terrain

GMC's small Terrain crossover SUV is essentially a carryover model for 2014, save for a new paint color and new standard wheels. Buyers have the choice of front- or all-wheel-drive capability, 4- or 6-cylinder engine, and three trim levels.

What's New

  • Silver Sky Metallic paint color
  • Upgraded standard wheels

2014 GMC Yukon

New colors and added standard features for the SLE trim level are all that distinguish the 2014 GMC Yukon from last year's model. A redesigned Yukon will debut for the 2015 model year.

What's New

  • Deep Indigo Metallic paint color
  • Convenience package now standard on the SLE trim level
  • Hybrid version discontinued

2014 GMC Yukon XL

Like the shorter Yukon, the 2014 GMC Yukon XL differs little from the 2013 model. Updates are limited to one new exterior color and added standard features for the SLE trim level. A redesigned Yukon XL is scheduled to debut for the 2015 model year.

What's New

  • Deep Indigo Metallic paint color
  • Convenience package now standard on the SLE trim level
