New for 2014: Ford Trucks, SUVs and Vans
2014 Ford Trucks, SUVs and Vans OverviewAfter a model year that saw the debut of an all-new Escape crossover and significant revisions to other models, things are fairly quiet for Ford's lineup of 2014 trucks, crossovers, SUVs, and vans.
One major exception would've been the launch of the full-size Transit cargo van and passenger wagon, but that has been delayed until the 2015 model year. However, the Transit's little brother, the Transit Connect, is still on schedule to arrive fully redesigned for 2014. Along with styling that favors sleek over boxy, the 2014 Ford Transit Connect may be equipped with a 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine, short or long wheelbase, and an interior configured to accommodate up to 7 passengers or 130 cu. ft. of cargo.
As for the rest of the lineup, the 2014 Ford Edge offers new colors, the 2014 Ford Escape arrives with a shuffling of features and a smaller standard engine on the Titanium trim level, and the 2014 E-Series carries over essentially unchanged. For the 2014 Expedition, engineers opted to replace the optional air suspension with a mechanical set up, while the Ford Explorer comes to market with added standard features and updated chassis components. New colors serve as the main difference between 2013 and 2014 versions of the uniquely styled Ford Flex crossover, and the Super Duty pickup is a near carbon copy of the 2013 model.
That leaves Ford's best-selling model, the F-150. Changes for 2014 include the addition of a sporty Tremor regular cab version, a Special Edition package for the SVT Raptor, new trailer tow mirrors, standard HID headlights for most trim levels, and an optional Marina Blue leather interior for the F-150 Limited.
2014 Ford EdgeFord's Edge crossover changes little for the 2014 model year, though buyers do have access to two new paint colors. Available in front-wheel-drive (FWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) form, four trim levels, and powered by one of three engines, the Ford Edge offers room for 5 passengers and is EPA-estimated to average up to 30 mpg on the highway.
2014 Ford Escape
Redesigned for the 2013 model year, the Ford Escape returns for 2014 with some shuffling of features and trim levels. Among the updates is the addition of standard rear park-assist sensors on the Escape Titanium variant, which has also seen its standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost power plant replaced by a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine. The Escape SEL is no longer available, but all remaining versions now feature a standard rearview camera and Sync infotainment system.
- SEL trim level discontinued
- Standard rearview camera
- Sync standard on all Escape trim levels
- Standard rear park-assist sensors on Titanium trim level
- Updated option packages
- 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine no longer standard on Titanium
2014 Ford E-SeriesNow in its 53rd year of production, the end is drawing near for the old-school E-Series cargo van and passenger wagon. An all-new full-size Ford Transit model, available in a multitude of configurations and offered with a new 5-cylinder Power Stroke diesel engine, will assume the E-Series' position in the Ford truck lineup when it arrives for the 2015 model year.
- No significant changes
- To be replaced by upcoming 2015 Ford Transit
2014 Ford ExpeditionFor 2014, Ford's full-size body-on-frame SUV abandons last year's optional load-leveling air suspension and replaces it with a mechanical setup. Buyers of the 2014 Expedition have the choice of regular and extended-length (EL) styles, four trim levels, and rear-wheel-drive (2WD) or 4-wheel-drive (4WD) capability. All versions are equipped with a 310-horsepower, 5.4-liter V-8 engine. A redesigned Expedition is on tap for the 2015 model year.
2014 Ford Explorer
First introduced on the Explorer Sport, an updated steering system and larger brake discs make their way to the entire Explorer lineup in 2014. Other changes include the addition of two new paint colors, standard automatic headlights on all trim levels, and a new heated second-row seat for the upscale Explorer Limited. Ford offers FWD and AWD versions of the 2014 Explorer, and fills the engine bay with either a 290-horsepower EcoBoost 4-cylinder or a 240-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine.

- Updated steering system (already standard on Sport)
- Larger brakes (already standard on Sport)
- Standard automatic headlights
- Limited trim level adds standard heated second-row seats
2014 Ford Flex
Like some other Ford models, the Flex crossover underwent significant updates in 2013, so 2014 model-year changes are minimal. These include the debut of two new paint colors, an Appearance package (formerly the Titanium Appearance package) with an available body-color roof, and a Sync infotainment system that's been updated to better interpret voice commands. The 2014 Ford Flex provides seating for up to 7 passengers, and is available with FWD or AWD capability.

- Updated Appearance package
- Updated Sync voice-recognition software
2014 Ford F-150While its competitors are adding diesel engines and arriving completely redesigned for the 2014 model year, the Ford F-150 arrives with comparatively insignificant updates. With a nod of respect to sport-truck enthusiasts, including those who may still fawn over the F-150 Lightning of days past, Ford has created the 2014 F-150 Tremor, a RWD regular cab model powered by a twin-turbocharged, 3.5-liter, EcoBoost V-6 engine.
Also noteworthy is the addition of standard HID headlights on most trim levels and new power-telescoping and power-folding mirrors.
- Available Marina Blue leather upholstery (Limited)
- Sunset Metallic paint color
- Updated alloy wheel offerings
- Tremor model
- SVT Raptor Special Edition package

2014 Ford F-Series Super DutyAn improved braking system has allowed Ford to increase the payload capacity of its 2014 F-Series Super Duty pickup. The truck is now capable of hauling up to 7,260 pounds of cargo in its bed, and towing a load weighing up to 18,500 pounds. Engine options include a 6.2-liter V-8 and a turbocharged, 6.7-liter V-8 diesel. Three cab styles are offered, along with two bed lengths, RWD or 4WD capability, single or dual rear wheels, and three model designations (F-250, F-350, F-450).
