IntroductionThe Toyota Sienna is a minivan with 7- or 8-passenger capacity, and is the only minivan offered with all-wheel drive. Until 2013, it was also the only minivan with an available 4-cylinder engine, but that has been dropped this year.
The Toyota Sienna competes against the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, Honda Odyssey, and Nissan Quest.
Exterior FeaturesThe 2013 Toyota Sienna features two sliding side doors for access to its second- and third-row seats. They are power operated on most models, and the rear liftgate is also available with power operation. The SE is meant to be a sport model. It comes with a mesh grille, 19-inch "Super Chrome" wheels, aggressive front and rear fascias, lower side skirting, smoked taillights, and an 11-millimeter lower ride height. Other models get 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, and all models come with an intermittent rear wiper/washer, automatic-off headlights, and a rear spoiler.Interior FeaturesThe Sienna comes standard with cloth upholstery, driver's seat lumbar adjustment, three-zone climate controls, interior air filter, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, second-row bucket seats, third-row stowable split-folding seat, power mirrors, power front windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, AM/FM/CD stereo, auxiliary input jack, and satellite radio.
A removable second-row center seat is provided for 8-passenger capacity. It can be detached and stored along the wall in the back of the minivan. The Sienna Limited model has Lounge Seating that reclines and has built-in ottomans that allow second-row occupants to recline similar to first-class airplane passengers. A well behind the third row gives the Sienna 39.1 cubic feet of cargo space with all the seats up. The third-row seats, which are available with power operation, fold into this well to open up 87.1 cubic feet of space. The Tip Up and Long Slide second-row seats are mounted on tracks that allow the seats to travel forward and back 23 inches, which can push all the way up to the first row to expand cargo space to 117.8 cubic feet. They can also be removed to expand cargo capacity to 150 cubic feet.
Optional FeaturesTo the base model the LE adds tri-zone automatic climate control, 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, center console, second-row 3-passenger split-folding seat, power sliding rear doors, rearview camera, steering wheel radio controls, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, trip computer, universal garage door opener, auto-dimming rearview mirror, compass, outside-temperature display, conversation mirror, second- and third-row sunshades, and roof rails. The SE gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel, vinyl and cloth upholstery, power liftgate, fog lights, sport suspension, and 19-inch tires. The XLE comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, heated front seats, 4-way power front passenger seat, power rear-quarter windows, sunroof, power liftgate, automatic headlights, and fog lights. The Limited features blind spot monitor, front- and rear-park assist, Toyota's Safety Connect system, woodgrain/leather-wrapped steering wheel, memory for the driver's seat and mirrors, power-folding split 3rd-row seat, keyless access and starting, power-folding heated auto-dimming exterior mirrors with turn signals and tilt-down back-up aid, JBL sound system with 6-disc CD changer, panoramic sunroof, and 18-inch tires.

Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Toyota Sienna are:
- Toyota Sienna: 18/25/21 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- Toyota Sienna with all-wheel drive: 16/23/19 mpg
SafetyStandard safety features on the 2013 Toyota Sienna include dual front airbags, front side airbags, curtain side airbags, driver knee airbag, antilock brakes, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, electronic stability control, and tire-pressure monitor. Safety options consist of hill-start control, front and rear park assist, panoramic rearview camera, blind spot monitor, and a Pre-Collision system that uses the available radar cruise control to predict collisions, ready braking pressure, retract the front seatbelts, and apply emergency braking when a crash is unavoidable.
In government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the New Car Assessment Program, the Toyota Sienna received 5 stars (out of 5) stars for side-impact crash protection; 4 stars for frontal crash and rollover protection; and 4 stars overall. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) testing, the Sienna received a rating of Good--the Institute's highest--in front overlap, side impact, roof strength, and rear crash protection tests, making it a Top Safety Pick. It has not been subjected to the new small overlap front test, so it cannot be named a Top Safety Pick Plus.
