Interior Features

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster seats 4, with a 2-passenger rear seat. Standard interior features include cloth upholstery, air conditioning, interior air filer, tilt/telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, front bucket seats with height-adjustable driver's seat, split-folding rear seat, heated power mirrors, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, AM/FM/CD stereo, satellite radio, auxiliary input jack, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, Blue Link services and assistance, trip computer, outside temperature display, rear cargo cover, and rear defogger.

Optional Features

The 2013 Veloster offers two major packages. The Style package comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, vinyl seat bolsters, 450-watt Dimension audio system, panoramic sunroof, aluminum pedals, fog lights, piano black interior trim, and 18-inch wheels. The Tech package adds rear park assist, navigation system, rearview camera, keyless access and starting, 115-volt power outlet, automatic headlights, and unique alloy wheels. Other options include an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a universal garage door opener, remote engine starting, and Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires.

Under the Hood

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster's standard engine is a direct-injection, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder that delivers 138 horsepower and 132 lb.-ft. of torque when paired with the 6-speed manual transmission. When equipped with the 6-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission, horsepower drops to 132 this year, but fuel economy rises 1 mpg in the city and 2 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. A turbocharged version of the 1.6-liter engine is also new this year. The Veloster is offered only with front-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy

EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Hyundai Veloster are:

• Veloster with 6-speed manual transmission: 27/37/31 mpg (city/highway/combined)
• Veloster with 6-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission: 28/37/31 mpg

Safety

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster comes standard with the following safety features: dual front air bags, front side air bags, curtain side air bags, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, and a tire-pressure monitor.

Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has tested the 2013 Veloster as this preview is published.

Technology

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster comes standard with Hyundai's BlueLink telematics system. BlueLink is similar to General Motors' OnStar. It provides voice-to-text messaging and monthly vehicle reporting, as well as such agent-assisted services as point of interest (POI) search and turn-by-turn navigation. Blue Link Assurance is also included, as well as Automatic Crash Notification and Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, and Enhanced Roadside Assistance.
