Top 5 2020 Midsize Premium SUVs by Customer Satisfaction

Every year, J.D. Power uses information gained from thousands of verified vehicle owners to index how well the vehicles on the American market perform in giving their owners positive experiences. The detailed information car owners provide at the completion of their first 90 days of ownership forms the basis of three industry benchmark studies. One of them is APEAL, the annual Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study that measures how much owners like their vehicles.

In the APEAL Study, the detailed information gathered about each vehicle is combined into an index that enables the ranking of every vehicle for which there is a sufficient sample. In the APEAL Index, a higher number is a more positive result. The higher the number, the better the vehicle is in satisfying its owners. Vehicles that rank highest on the APEAL index do the best job of pleasing their owners in areas related to customer satisfaction.

In this article, we profile the five highest-rated 2020 midsize premium SUVs for customer satisfaction according to the consumers who own them. The models are listed in rank order with the most satisfying vehicle listed first and the others in descending order. The average index score for the segment is 858.
