Mazda Offers Healthcare Workers Free Oil Changes and Car Cleaning During the Coronavirus Pandemic
Announced today, Mazda will provide free standard oil changes and enhanced cleaning services for U.S. healthcare workers—regardless of whether their vehicle is a Mazda.
The Essential Car Care Program, a partnership developed with Mazda’s dealer network, begins April 16 and will run through at least May 4. Open to all active healthcare workers employed at a clinic, hospital, and other eligible medical facility (including but not limited to blood banks, health agencies, treatment centers, etc.), only proof of occupation is required. This can be in the form of a valid employment ID or recent pay stub.
Participation extends beyond Mazda owners. No matter the make and model the healthcare provider drives, Mazda’s participating dealerships will service it. However, the program does exclude certain vehicles, such as exotics, classics, off-roaders, and those with manufacturer-specific requirements. Customers are asked to contact their local Mazda dealership to verify program participation and vehicle eligibility.
In addition to an oil change, dealerships will perform enhanced vehicle cleaning. Using EPA-approved cleansers, high-touch surfaces will be focused on within the vehicle’s interior and throughout its exterior. Public health recommendations regarding minimizing coronavirus exposure will be followed, such as increased hygiene and social distancing practices during vehicle drop-off and pick-up.
In order to accommodate as many healthcare employees as possible, though, these services are limited to one vehicle per program period.
The Essential Car Care Program is a nationwide plan inspired by similar programs implemented by Mazda dealerships on a local level. Mazda will invest a minimum of $5 million toward the initiative and will continue to work closely with its dealer body to monitor impact and evaluate additional ways to further support vital frontline workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
