Introduced in 2007, the CX-9 was one of the larger cars built by Mazda, a bulky SUV crossover with a useful third-row bench, a sportier and modern style and a powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine that was rated at 263 horsepower. The CX-9 coasted into the 2008 model year with an updated and more powerful engine that increased horsepower by 10 and improved pound-feet of torque by 21. The Grand Touring trim was updated to now include a handy blind-spot monitoring system. Subtle changes marked the 2009 CX-9, including Bluetooth integration and a trip computer being made standard, as well as various minor tweaks being made to different trim levels and packages. In 2010, Mazda updated the interior and exterior style of the CX-9, making changes to the backup camera, the information display screen, the GPS system, the ventilation system and the quality of the materials being used in the cabin. The CX-9 coasted through 2011 and 2012 with no major changes. In 2013, a revamped exterior style graced the CX-9, and a new display screen was introduced in the interior that offered Pandora radio and other useful apps.
