The 1998 Mazda B-Series 2WD Truck entered the year with a revamped suspension, a beefed up 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an enhanced frame, an updated 2WD system and a sleeker body style. In 1999, the four-door Cab Plus 4 option was added, and substantial changes were made to various packages. A new class III hitch was also added for V6 models. Minor and subtle changes were made to various trim levels for the 2000 model year, including optional trailer hitch, and updates to the Troy Lee edition. The B-Series would pass through model years 2001, 2002 and 2003 relatively unchanged. In 2004, Mazda redesigned the interior, improving the airbag system and the design of the steering wheel. A new center stack was introduced and the carmaker updated the interior upholstery. The 2005 B-Series saw updates to the Dual Sport and SE trims, with standard options added that included cruise control, powered mirrors and a sturdy bedliner. A tire-pressure monitoring system was added in 2007, marking the only significant change for the B-Series.
