The Lincoln MKX was released in 2007, a luxury SUV that was based off the chassis of a car, signifying the companys first attempt at creating a crossover SUV. The five-passenger SUV was adorned with amenities and boasted a 3.5-liter V6 engine that was rated at 265 horsepower. Only a few changes graced the 2008 model, including new standard features like the reverse parking sensors, satellite radio and air-conditioned seats with memory functions. The GPS system got an optional voice-command, and a new special-edition package was introduced. In 2009, the MKXs GPS system was upgraded to offer voice-command and Sirius Travel Link, as well as a variety of other features, including 911 Assist. The only changes for 2010 were minor revisions to the optional packages. In 2011, Lincoln revised the interior and exterior styling and offered more options for the interior trim levels. The MKX carried over through 2012 and 2013 relatively unchanged.
