Lexus GX 470 Models and GX 470 History

In 2003, Lexus launched the GX 470, a brand-new midsize luxury SUV that was packed with amenities and the latest and greatest safety features, offering a powerful 4.7-liter V8 engine that was capable of producing 235 horsepower. The 2004 GX 470 saw upgrades to all safety features, including a roll-sensing system, side curtain airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system and the optional add-on of a rearview camera. In 2005, Lexus added a Sport model to their GX 470 fleet, which boasted the brand new Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, and that featured smoked headlamps and a special limited edition trim. Other upgrades included a powered-up V8 engine that made 270 horsepower, and an upgraded GPS system with enhanced touchscreen console and Bluetooth integration with voice control. No substantial changes were made to the 2006 model. In 2007, Lexus made some updates to the GPS system, and added iPod integration as well as offering an optional Mark Levinson Premium Audio System that would expand the rear DVD screen to 9. Model years 2008 and 2009 saw no major changes.
