In 1998, Kia made numerous improvements to the safetyfeatures on the Sportage, adding all-wheel ABS, better airbags and some minorchanges to the car that included alloy wheels and better A/C. In 1999, Kiaunveiled a two-door soft top Sportage as their version of the Jeep Wrangler. The2000 Sportage offered a new stereo system, more body colors and dual airbags. 2001marked the year where Kia introduced their 100,000-mile extended Long Haul Warrantyfor the Sportage. The 2002 Sportage would offer expanded safety features andminor changes to various trims. Kia would discontinue the EX and Limited trimsthis year, too. The 2003 and 2004 Sportage model years were discontinued as thecar entered a short hiatus. A completely redesigned Sportage was released for2005. In 2006, Kia made minor changes to various trims, and added a cabin airfilter and tire pressure monitoring system as standard. Minor changes were madeto the 2007 and 2008 versions. The 2009 Sportage saw the addition of USB inputs,optional GPS and a few other minor upgrades. The 2010 model remained unchanged.In 2011, Kia introduced a newly redesigned Sportage. The 2012 Sportage offeredbetter suspension, better interior insulation and minor updates across mosttrim levels. A few changes were made to the luxury trim levels for the 2013model year.
