Acting against a trend established by rival luxury automobile brands, Jaguar had resisted calls to create a crossover utility vehicle. At the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, a Jaguar concept vehicle finally provided an image of the cat badge on a premium crossover. The near production-ready C-X17 concept was eventually adopted into the Jaguar F-PACE that made its debut in 2016 as a 2017 model. Sharing design cues with modern Jaguar sedans as well as the F-TYPE sports car, the F-PACE crossover's aluminum construction and several other premium innovations. Jaguar InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, laser heads-up display, in-vehicle Wi-Fi connectivity as well as the world debut of an Activity Key is available on the crossover. Equipped exclusively with all-wheel drive, a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine is offered in output capacities of 340 and 380 horsepower. In late 2016, a diesel-powered version of the Jaguar F-PACE will be added. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine generates 180 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of low-end torque. The premiere of the 2017 Jaguar F-FACE is marked with a First Edition model limited to just 275 units in the United States.
