The S-Type was made by working with Lincoln and by using the Ford platform for midsized cars to create an all-new body style for Jaguarthat was both luxurious and impeccable, originally introduced in 2000. In 2001,Jaguar added alloy wheels with ten spokes as well as a few new colors to choosefrom. They also moved the CD changer to the trunk, added a Reverse ParkControl, a Voice Activation Control system and a Motorola Timeport phonesystem, amongst numerous other minor additions. The 2002 S-Type offered three new hues that includedGreen, Quartz and Zircon. The model also added cup holders in the back thatwere seat deployed, and now offered a 3.0-liter V6 or 4.0-liter V8 engine witha new suspension system called CATS (Computer Active Technology Suspension).The carmaker also added a new color: Pacific Blue. In 2003, Jaguar revamped the interior of this car andadded several new trims including: S-Type 3.0 SE and 3.0 Sport, 4.2 V8 and R.The V6 engine got a new five-speed manual transmission and the V8 got a newsix-speed transmission. The company also added stability control, side curtainand front airbags standard, xenon headlamps, and an optional premium Alpinesound system with a touchscreen voice command system. The 2004 S-Type added adaptive cruise control and anoptional six-speed automatic transmission. In 2005, Jaguar made some minorchanges to the body style, added some new interior options and trims, includingheated seats and walnut trim, and offered 17 wheels as an optional upgrade. In 2006, a new braking system was added as was a new meshgrill insert, in addition to the car also featuring Bluetooth connectivity. The2007 S-Type featured minimal changes and added a few new interior trims as wellas a radar-based cruise control. In 2008, the final production year for thiscar, a few cosmetic changes were made to the models, including larger wheelsfor the V6 (18) and V8 (19) models.
