Arriving in the same year as Infiniti adopts a new naming structure that repositioned existing vehicles with new monikers, the Q50 debuted as an all-new design. The 2014 Infiniti Q50 was billed as a new direction in design and technology for the luxury car company. A "double arch" grille, signature LED headlights and a drag coefficient of 0.26 are some exterior styling elements noted with the Q50. Direct Active Steering, Active Lane Control and Infiniti InTouch smart connectivity reflect some of the technologies showcased in the sedan. Available performance for the 2014 Q50 included a 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6 and a hybrid powertrain combining a 3.5-liter V-6 gasoline engine with a 50-kilowatt electric motor. Offered with a rear-wheel and an all-wheel drivetrain choice, driving dynamics of the Infiniti Q50 was refined thanks to Formula 1 drivers Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Buemi. During 2014, Infiniti showed off a 560-horsepower prototype Q50 Eau Rouge powered by a twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter V-6 engine from the Nissan GT-R. Despite generating sensational popularity for the concept car, Infiniti decided against producing the Q50 Eau Rouge in late 2015.
