Coinciding with the arrival of an all-new Infiniti M sedan in 2011, improved engine power led to the replacement of the M35 with the new M37. Borrowing styling inspiration from Infiniti's Essence Concept car, the 2011 M37's fluidic exterior sculpture displayed aggression as well as modern luxury. Interior design resulted from long, careful studying in creating a driver-oriented feeling while also emphasizing high luxury with wood and leather. Technology was also showcased in the Infiniti G37 with available features such as Active Noise Control, Forest Air aroma system and the world's first Blind Spot Intervention system. At the heart of the Infiniti M37, a 330-horsepower 3.7-liter V-6 engine is more potent than the last generation's six-cylinder model but boasts better fuel economy. A rear-wheel drive as well as an all-wheel drive M37x is equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The emergence of a new naming structure instituted by Infiniti in 2014 led the six-cylinder powered M37 and V-8 engined M56 to be consolidated under the Q70 brand.
