A smaller alternative to the FX level of Infinitis luxury utility vehicle, the EX brand emerged in 2008. Sculpted to present a coupe-like exterior presentation, the 2008 Infiniti EX35 crossover vehicle featured a low profile overall appearance, long hood and aggressive arching at the vehicles C-pillars. Body panels of the EX35 featured Infinitis first use of Scratch Shield clearcoat paint capable of healing minor surface scratches for a high-quality finish for a longer time. Combinable with rear-wheel drive or ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive, the 2008 Infiniti EX35s propulsion was sourced from the latest-generation of the Nissan/Infiniti VQ engine family. Incorporating variable exhaust cam timing and Iridium spark plugs, the 3.5-liter V-6 powerplant found in the entire EX35 line-up produced 297 horsepower. Engine power was channeled through a high-tech five-speed automatic transmission featuring a manual mode, DS sport mode and Adaptive Shift Control technology. An innovation touted as debuting for first time on a production, the Infiniti EX35 offered a multi-view camera system. Called an Around View Monitor system, cameras positioned at the front, rear and sides of the EX35 provides the driver with additional perspective of the area surrounding the vehicle. Another safety system highlighted on the introduction of the EX35 for 2008 was the Lane Departure Warning System. For the second year of the Infiniti EX35, leather seating, polished aluminum roof rails and RearView Monitor was added to the standard equipment. In 2011, the transmission of the EX35 was upgraded to a seven-speed automatic while the standard wheel diameter grew from 17 inches to 18 inches. The Infiniti EX35 was discontinued after the 2012 model year as new EX37 crossover using a 3.7-liter V-6 engine was introduced for 2013.
