Hummer H3 SUV Models and H3 SUV History

A sport utility vehicle introduced in 2006 as a more economical take on the Hummer, the H3 entered 2010 with the pending end of the General Motors premium brand looming. For 2010, the Hummer brand survived with the availability of the H3 SUV and the pickup truck-like H3T. The 2010 Hummer H3 SUV retained a fair share of off-roading capabilities exhibited in its larger, discontinued counterparts the H1 and H2. A full-time four-wheel drive system with two-speed transfer case was standard equipment on all 2010 H3 SUV models. Possessing a 9.7-inch ground clearance and a front end allowing for competent trail riding, the Hummer H3 SUV boasted the ability to climb a 16-inch vertical wall and the ability to operate in up to 24 inches of water. For 2010, the Hummer H3 SUV was offered in four trim levels. Base, Adventure and Luxury trim versions of the five-passenger sport utility vehicle were powered by a 3.7-liter five-cylinder engine producing 239 horsepower. Standard features on the 2010 H3 SUV included StabiliTrak electronic stability control, front and side airbags, cruise control and aluminum wheels. Also available in 2010 was the Hummer H3 SUV Alpha model most notably equipped with a 300-horsepower eight-cylinder engine.

The 5.3-liter Vortec V-8 powerplant was joined by unique badging and a standard six-disc CD changer. Designed to fit five adult occupants, the interior of the 2010 Hummer H3 SUV featured a maximum cargo capacity of 55.7 cubic feet with the rear seat folded down. Production of the H3 SUV ended after the 2010 model year with the demise of the Hummer brand. The final Hummer H3 was produced to fulfil a special order for rental car company Avis.
