The GMC Sierra 1500HD was first introduced as a heavy-duty crew cab truck in 2001. For 2007, the Sierra 1500HD resided as part of the GMC brand’s Classic line of trucks based on the outgoing GMT800 platform. Featuring a heavy-duty suspension mounted to a durable hydroformed chassis, the 2007 GMC Sierra 1500HD Classic came with standard four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system and 16-inch steel wheels. Available as a rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive model, the 2007 GMC Sierra 1500HD Classic was propelled by a 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 engine producing 300 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque.

As a heavy-duty truck, this engine was supported by an electrical system featuring 145-amp alternator and a high-grade battery with run-down protection. The Vortec powerplant was connected to a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and a Tow/Haul mode. Maximum towing capacity stated for the 2007 GMC Sierra 1500HD Classic was 10,200 pounds. Equipped only with a 6.5-foot short box bed, payload capacity ranged up to 3,129 pounds. The four-door crew cab’s interior was designed to hold up to six occupants.

Dual-zone air conditioning, power heated mirrors, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a CD-played equipped stereo system presented an added level of class to contrast the 2007 Sierra 1500HD Classic’s work-capable exterior. A rear-seat entertainment system was optional providing a DVD-based viewing experience on an LCD screen. Another options available on the GMC Sierra 1500HD Classic included a power sunroof, Bose audio system and leather seating. GMC discontinued use of the 1500HD line altogether after the 2007 model year.
