Ford Transit-Cargo-Van Model History
All New and Used Transit-Cargo-Van Model Years and History
When the time arrived when Ford replaced their long-running E-Series (long known as the Econoline) cargo van, the automaker decided to further globalize their commercial vehicle line-up. The Ford Transit had existed in the United Kingdom since 1965 as a work van unique compared to what was sold in North American for almost five decades. In 2015, the Ford Transit van was introduced to the United States redefining their large commercial vehicle portfolio. Along with different lengths, the Transit provided Ford buyers of full-sized vans the option of three roof heights. Maximum cargo capacity inside the Ford Transit Cargo Van is rated at 487.3 cubic feet ideal for hauling or for converting to suit specific businesses. A 3.7-liter V-6 engine came standard on the Transit Cargo Van while an EcoBoost V-6 and turbocharged diesel five-cylinder powerplant are also available. Transit Cargo Vans distributed in North American are sourced from Ford's Kansas City Assembly facility.
