About Focus Electric

Fords first full-scale electric production car, the Focus Electric was introduced for the 2012 model year. Based on the same platform as the gasoline version of the compact hatchback and a prototype battery-powered test car exhibited on Jay Lenos talk show, the Focus Electric is immediately differentiated by a unique slotted grille appearance and standard 17-inch aluminum wheels. Generating the equivalent of 143 horsepower, a 107-kilowatt AC permanent magnet electric traction motor is powered by energy is stored in a climate-controlled 23-kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery pack. With an average EPA-rated efficiently of 105 MPGe, the Focus Electrics range on a single charge is appraised at 76 miles.


Four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system found standard on the 2012 Ford Focus Electric includes regenerative braking properties that recuperate energy allowing the vehicle to achieve better range in city driving conditions.
