Ford C-Max Hybrid Models and C-Max Hybrid History

A front-wheel drive multi-purpose vehicle combining a gasoline engine and electric motor for maximum fuel economy, the Ford C-Max Hybrid was brought to North American motoring audiences for the 2013 model year. The 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrids key feature is the gasoline-electric powertrain. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder internal combustion engine works in concert with an 88-kilowatt permanent magnet AC synchronous motor. Generating a combined output of 188 horsepower, the C-Max Hybrid channels momentum of its two power units through an electronic continuously variable transmission. Achieving 42 miles per gallon city and 37 miles per gallon highway, the C-Max Hybrids can travel a total range of 540 miles on a single tank of fuel.

AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, electric power-assisted steering and four-wheel disc braking is standard insuring safe travel when driving the gasoline/electric hybrid vehicle. Regenerative braking allowed the vehicle to capture kinetic energy to recharge the battery. Practical and fuel efficient, the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid is based on the same platform as the compact Focus but is over six inches taller. Capable of accommodating up to five passengers, the interior of the C-Max Hybrid can configured to fit up to 52.6 cubic feet of cargo volume. The 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid was introduced in two trim levels.

On the SE model of the C-Max Hybrid, seating is covered with eco-friendly cloth, Ford SYNC, keyless entry, 17-inch alloy wheels and a six-speaker stereo system is standard. Heated seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, ambient lighting, and Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start are equipped on the SEL model. There were no major changes made to the Ford C-Max Hybrid for the 2014 or 2015 model year.
