Replacing the 612 Scaglietti, the Ferrari FF was a dramatic take on the 2+2 sports car. Introduced to the public for the 2012 model year featuring a body silhouette described as a shooting brake, the wagon-like rear end of the Ferrari FF was not the only trait defining this product from the famed Italian marque. The 2012 FF displayed the first-ever use of all-wheel drive on a Ferrari production car.

Called 4RM technology, Ferraris innovative and lightweight all-wheel drive system is primarily focused in delivering performance to the rear transaxle. When needed, a Power Transfer Unit connected directly to the engine furnishes power to the front wheels. E-Diff electronic differential, F1-Trac and carbon-ceramic brakes are also found standard on the FF. Providing momentum to the all-wheel drive system of the Ferrari FF, a 651-horsepower, direct-injected 6.3-liter V-12 engine was mounted ahead of the passenger cabin but behind the front wheels. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission was matched with the V-12 engine providing robust acceleration. 0 to 62-mile per hour launch times of 3.7 seconds have been estimated for the Ferrari FF. Optional accompaniment to the 2012 Ferrari FF engine is a HELE (High Emotions-Low Emissions) system that included Start & Stop technology granted improved operating efficiency for the sports car.

Capable of fitting four adults, the interior of the FF was advertised to comfortably fit occupants over six feet tall in both rows. Dual-zone climate control, four airbags and Bluetooth connectivity were included standard. A rear-seat entertainment system and a front emotion display screen are optional extras available inside the Ferrari FF.
