Dodge SRT Viper Models and SRT Viper History
After a three-year hiatus, Chrysler Group announced the revival of the Viper supercar as the most performance-capable version built. The new generation supercar was originally brought to market under the newly established SRT brand. Built on a unique platform, the 2013 SRT Viper was reintroduced solely as a hardtop coupe.
Possessing a host of improved handling and performance traits, the stiffened structure incorporated an aluminum X-brace. Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires mounted onto Sidewinder II wheels propelled the 2013 SRT Viper while an electronic multistage stability control program, four-channel anti-lock braking system and launch control were in place to help keep the vehicle solidly on the road.
The return of the Viper brought the most powerful version of the V-10 engine ever incorporated with the Chrysler supercar. Producing 640-horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, the all-aluminum powerplant was mated with a Tremac six-speed manual transmission. The 2013 Viper could accomplish 0 to 60-mile per hour runs in the lower three-second range while top speed of the vehicle was rated at 206 miles per hour. A high attention to detail was paid to the two-passenger interior of the SRT Viper equipped with Sabelt racing seats and a fully customizable instrument display. An 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen is located in the center console of the vehicles cockpit. For the 2014 model year, a limited-edition Time Attack (TA) version of the Viper included revised aerodynamics and handling equipment.
Decorated with unique paint colors, the SRT Viper TA models received a carbon fiber splitter and spoiler as well as two-piece Brembo brake rotors. Also in 2014, the SRT Viper added a rain mode setting as part of the vehicles electronic multistage stability control system. In mid-2014, it was announced by the auto company Dodge would once again distribute the Viper.
