Dodge Dart Models and Dart History

Replacing the Caliber as an entry-level vehicle for the 2013 model year, Dodge revived a name from its past. The 2013 Dart was Dodges first product introduced after Chrysler Groups 2009 bankruptcy restructuring and was the first vehicle created for the brand derived from a Fiat Group platform. Returning to a sedan body style, the Dodge compact car was 183.9 inches long and exhibited an exterior design differing from other 2013 Dodge products.

SE, SXT, Rallye, Limited referenced four of the six trim level choices offered in the debut year of the Dodge Dart. Standard features included on the 2013 Dart included ten airbags, remote trunk and fuel door release, AM/FM stereo with CD player as well as power windows.

The base engine for the 2013 Dodge Dart was an all-new powerplant from Chryslers World Gas Engine family. A 2.0-liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine generated 160 horsepower and 148 pounds-feet of torque. Fuel economy for the base engine propelled Dart was rated at 25 miles per gallon city and 36 miles per gallon highway.

Optimized for peak fuel economy, the Dodge Dart Aero was powered by a standard turbocharged 1.4-liter engine. Providing the Dart Aero with fuel efficiency of 41 miles per gallon highway while maintaining the same level of horsepower as the base engine, the Aero featured either a standard six-speed manual or a dual dry clutch transmission. A 184-horsepower 2.4-liter Tigershark was standard on the performance-styled Dart GT.

In addition to the trim levels, the 2013 Dart was also marketed with a number of special edition packages including the Rallye Appearance Group. For the 2014 model year Dodge Dart, the Rallye trim was dropped while the more powerful Tigershark engine became standard on all but the SE and Aero.
