Chevrolet Silverado SS Classic Models and Silverado SS Classic History

The work capable structure of the Chevrolet Silverado was joined by the ‘Super Sport’ performance moniker for one last year in 2007. Offered only as an extended cab with a short box bed body configuration, the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado SS Classic included a number of styling and mechanical touches granting the truck a sporty persona. A unique front end for the Silverado SS Classic presented distinctive air inlets. With a ride height lowered by two inches compared to the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic, the 2007 Silverado SS Classic coasted on 20-inch wheels attached to Goodyear Eagle tires.

Power for the 2007 Silverado SS Classic came from a 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 engine. Generating 345 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, the cast aluminum eight-cylinder engine delivers maximum power by running on regular gasoline. A specially suited Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission worked alongside a 4.10-geared locking rear axle. The gearbox and rear axle setup of the Silverado SS Classic was tailored for quicker acceleration and improved highway cruising manners.

Offered only with rear wheel drive, the 2007 Silverado SS Classic could tow up to 8,100 pounds of load. Standard features on the 2007 performance model of the Chevrolet half-ton truck includes dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and an AM/FM stereo system with CD player. The interior capacity for the Silverado SS Classic provides seating for up to six passengers. Chevrolet discontinued offering a performance-oriented version of their half-ton truck following the 2007 model year.
