BMW has long used even numbers to identify coupes in their line-up. However, for years, the BMW 3 Series two-door coupe was an exception to that rule of corporate branding. With the introduction of an all-new 3 Series sedan in 2013, BMW has released the two-door equivalent of the vehicle as the 4 Series. Available as a hardtop coupe or a convertible, the 2014 BMW 4 Series does possess a lower and wider stance than the 3 Series sedan.
A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine propels the 428i model. Generating 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, the 428i model is offered with rear-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive variant. Also providing the same two-wheel and four-wheel drive option, the 2014 BMW 435i is equipped with a 300-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine. A six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission option is offered on the 2014 BMW 4 Series. The interior of the 4 Series is configured to comfortably seat four adult passengers. One of the available option packages on the 2014 BMW 4 Series is an M Sport package.
The 2014 BMW 4 Series M Sport equipped model includes an aerodynamic kit, special suspension, 10-way power adjustable sport seats and an increased top speed limiter. Other options found on the 2014 BMW 4 Series include Parking Assistant, Side & Top View Cameras as well as a Harman/Kardon Surround Sound System. For 2015, the BMW 4 Series line-up will be the recipient of a four-door Gran Coupe as well as a high-performance M4 model.
