After more than 24 years have past since the last DB6 was built by British sport luxury car brand Aston Martin, the continuation to the highly-identifiable performance lineage arrived for 1994. Aston Martin's first completely new vehicle developed under ownership by the Ford Motor Company, the DB7 grand tourer was introduced as a supercharged six-cylinder powered hardtop. The first Aston Marin DB7s arrived in the United States for the 1996 model year. A convertible Volante version of the Aston Martin DB7 was added for 1997. Ultimately replacing the supercharged six-cylinder engine after the 1999 model year, the V12 Vantage version of the DB7 featured a 5.9-liter twelve-cylinder powerplant producing 420 horsepower. At the time the six-cylinder powered Aston Martin DB7 was retired, it recorded the highest produced vehicle from the luxury sports car brand at 2,461 examples built.
