From the 1980s to the 1990s, Volvo's 200 Series, 700 Series and later the 850 provided spacious interiors. Today, the Volvo wagon line-up is represented by the V60 powered by a turbocharged engine. Observing an increased desirability for all-wheel drive utility vehicles in the late 1990s, Volvo outfitted their V70 wagon with many unique features. Billed as a ‘Cross Country' wagon, the V70 XC boasted a higher ride height and thicker floor mats. The cross country wagon was renamed the XC70 and gained more distinguishing lower bodywork.
