See All Model YearsLearn MoreAs an automotive brand, Kia Motors made its United States in 1994 established by offering a compact sedan called the Sephia. A low-cost economy sedan, the Kia Sephia was initially offered in three trim levels (GS, LS and RS). The Sephia was Kia's only sedan until the arrival of the Spectra in 2000 that ultimately replaced the former nameplate. For 2001, the Kia sedan range expanded with the mid-sized Optima that featured the brand's first six-cylinder engine offered in North America. Also debuting was the highly-affordable Kia Rio subcompact. As Kia built as a brand, sedans such as the Optima, Rio and the compact Forte have boasted improvements in quality as well as technologies such as turbocharging or gasoline direct injection. Kia moved upscale in 2004 with the Amanti sedan fashioned as a value-oriented premium car. In later years, Kia would continue to seek-out the luxury market with the Cadenza as well as the rear-wheel drive K900.
