It offers a diesel engine—one area its competitors the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic are lacking. Driver assist technology is an option instead of being standard. The 2019 model added a seven-inch touchscreen radio, and a manual transmission is no longer an option. The Cruze has either a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 153 horsepower combined with a six-speed transmission, or a 1.6-liter diesel with 137 horsepower with a nine-speed, both automatic. The 2019 Chevrolet Malibu is the line’s midsize sedan and this year has an outstanding infotainment system, a hybrid model, and plenty of driver assistance features. The 2019 model brought with it a new RS trim, a reconfigurable eight-inch display screen, and the L trim gets a rear backup camera standard. Base models for the standard 2019 Malibu have a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft of torque.
