Presenting an affordable set of three crossover vehicles for the 2018 model year, Mazda's personality as well as SkyActiv technology makes each model a trendy choice. Redesigned last year, the 2018 Mazda CX-5 features a number of technical improvements. The 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G four-cylinder engine has been reworked to incorporate cylinder-deactivation technology resulting in better fuel economy. Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert is now standard equipment on the CX-5 and CX-9 while the former also receives a leather-wrapped steering wheel. For 2018, G-Vectoring Control and City Smart Brake Support are expanded to all Mazda crossover vehicles. G-Vectoring Control intelligently manages load and engine torque to promote stabilized cornering while City Smart Brake Support reduces the risk of a low-speed collision. After a long wait, the diesel-powered version of the Mazda CX-5 finally appears to be ready for sale in the North America later in 2018 as a 2019 model. The SkyActiv-D turbocharged diesel powerplant is estimated to generate around 310 pound-feet of torque while delivering long-range fuel economy.
