The Honda Civic Hybrid is offered in both coupe and sedan versions with one trim and numerous optional packages that can up the ante. Base outfitting includes 15” steel wheels, all-powered accessories, folding rear seat (one-piece), 5” touchscreen console with backup camera, Bluetooth/iPod/USB integration, and a six or four-speaker sound system depending upon body style. A long list of upgrades are available, some of which that include: 16” alloy wheels, sunroof, remote entry and start, blind-spot camera, larger 7” touchscreen console, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, fog lights, automated headlamps, heated front seats, GPS system, disc brakes in the rear, collision mitigation system, leather seating and more. A 1.5-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine is mated with an electronic motor, offering 110 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque, able to get 45 mpg combined. Honda offers a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty.
2015 model year changes
The Civic adds a new trim level for 2015, dubbed the SE. The new trim is mainly aimed at value-oriented customers. The SE includes roughly $1,100 worth of options, but is priced only about $700 than the LX sedan. It includes features such as a CVT transmission, a display-type audio system and automatic climate control.
Competitive comparison
Sedan or coupe body styles; responsive driving feel; roomy interior; improved standard features; available gas/electric hybrid powertrain
Special features for 2015
For decades, the Civic has offered one of the best compact-car picks for those who want to keep their ownership costs low and plan to keep their cars a long time.
The Civic is also one of the roomiest small sedans, with a surprisingly big interior, considering its smallish footprint. Top models can still be appointed with the works--including a navigation system and full leather upholstery--making the Civic feel more like a compact luxury sedan than an affordable commuter.
