One of the biggest changes for 2014 is the introduction of a new 1.8L turbocharged engine option. Capable of 170 horsepower, it's also more efficient than last year's 2.5L. Volkswagen now offers their Car-Net system on the Beetle. An in-car telematics system, Car-Net offers stolen vehicle location, collision notification and navigation enhancements.

Now available with multi-link rear suspension and an R-Line trim level, the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is a two-door subcompact with seating for four. The Beetle is available with three different gasoline engine options; a standard 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine (170 hp), an optional turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine (210 hp), and an optional 4-cylinder TDI engine (140 hp) . Transmission options consist of a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and 6-speed DSG® automatic. Fuel mileage falls within an EPA estimated range of 21 mpg city to 31 mpg highway, depending on engine and transmission selection. Features include bi-xenon, 19-inch alloy heritage wheels, push-button start, sport steering wheel, ambient lighting, sport suspension, touchscreen navigation, premium audio, and hands-free phone capabilities. Safety is comprised of four airbags with integrated side curtain protection, anti-lock braking (ABS), intelligent crash response, and electronic stability control (ESC).
