Special features for 2014
The Patriot is an unexpectedly capable city car, combining a boxy, rugged-looking traditional Jeep appearance with car-like handling, good outward visibility, an economical powertrain, an interior that's comfortable for four adults and a city-friendly small-car size. The drivetrain and ground clearance, combined with an available Freedom-Drive II off-road package, makes for respectable off-road capability as well. Although the base model is basic, it's quite a bargain for a vehicle that includes all the essential safety equipment; and for those willing to option-up, there are more high-tech options than is typical for a basic sport-utility. Plus the Patriot achieves some of the best fuel economy numbers in its class.
Now available with a new 6-speed PowerTech automatic transmission, the 2014 Jeep Patriot is a compact crossover available in standard FWD or optional 4WD. The Patriot can be equipped with two different engines; a standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 158 hp/141 lb-ft of torque and an optional 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that produces 172 hp and 165 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options consist of a 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and a CVT, enabling fuel mileage within an EPA estimated range of 20 mpg city to 29 mpg highway. Off-road driving is capable due to skid plates all terrain tires, tow hooks and 4WD lock. Features include 17-inch wheels, heated seats, leather trim, touchscreen navigation, liftgate speakers, premium sound, and fold-flat seating. Safety is comprised of advanced airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), electronic roll mitigation, anti-lock braking (ABS), emergency braking assist (BA), traction control (TCS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), and tire pressure monitoring (TPMS). The Patriot is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
