2014 model year changes
The Elantra GT enters 2014 with a brand new engine across the entire model range. It's a 2.0L 4-cylinder unit that replaces the smaller 1.8L 4-cylinder previously standard on the Elantra GT. With a tiny bump in size, comes a big bump in power, the new engine makes an additional 25 horsepower over the unit it replaces, making the Elantra GT more powerful than the majority of cars it is direct competition with, such as the Mazda3.

Special features for 2014
The Elantra GT appeals to those who want a hatchback that's slightly larger and more substantial than subcompact models (like Hyundai's Accent) that's more premium-feeling, yet still budget-minded. The new GT also carves out a sportier driving experience compared to the sedan, and it competes with the Ford Focus, Mazda3, Toyota Matrix and Volkswagen Golf, among others. According to Hyundai it has more passenger and cargo space than any of those models. It's also the first Elantra model with a driver knee airbag. Hyundai also boasts that the Elantra GT is the lightest 5-door hatchback in the compact segment--and that contributes to its nimble driving feel and good gas mileage. Compared to the Elantra sedan, the Elantra GT has a firmer sport-tuned suspension and it's the first vehicle in this segment to add a feature like the Driver Selectable Steering Mode.
Styled as elegant and practicality, the 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT has undergone a power boost. Replacing the previous 1.8 liter powerplant, an all-new gasoline direct injected, 2-liter four-cylinder engine now powers the Hyundai Elantra GT for 2014. Bumping performance up to 173 horsepower, the new engine is linked to either a six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission. Combined city and highway fuel economy for the 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT is rated at 27 miles per gallon with the automatic gearbox or 28 miles per gallon with the six-speed manual. The 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT is standard equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, cooled glove box, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and remote keyless entry. Presenting 23 cubic feet of cargo room when the interior of the 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT is configured for five passengers, folding the rear seating row expands the area to 51 cubic feet. A full list of safety features are included standard on the 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT like front, side and curtain airbags as well as four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. A blind spot mirror and available LED taillights are added equipment for the 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT.
