Transmission broke after 124k miles. CVT type transmission can not be re-built. Low availability. best price $3200 + $700 installation + taxes >> $4200 hit. Jeep changed the transmission on the Patriot in 2016 from what I read on the Internet. Good luck

Over all a very good car. Not much to look at but it performs well. The one and only complaint? The clock doesn''t keep time. Keeps loosing s few minutes every 4-5 weeks. Everything else has been great. Have had no engine issues. low maintenance cost. Good gas mileage. Feels sturdy, safe. Heavy.

The Patriot is the least expensive 4wd SUV on the market. It may not be the best but I am very happy with its looks performance interior design and MPG. The complaints about the tranny winning is overblown with the radio on you don''t even notice it. I only use my 4wd 2-3 times a year but I''m so happy to have it when I do need it. It is comfortable for all types of driving. I''ve owned several other 4wd SUV''s and they drove like a truck which they are but this Patriot has the convenience of an SUV and the comfortable ride of a mid-class sedan. I would recommended it to anyone.
