The 2011 model year serves as a wind-down for the car division that has been part of the American automobile sector since 1939 serving as an intermediate between Ford and Lincoln. The Mountaineer sport utility vehicle is no longer available for 2011 but the Milan, Mariner and Grand Marquis remain. Hybrid versions of the Mariner compact sport utility vehicle and Milan mid-sized sedan continue to be offered as fuel-saving choices for motorists. The V-8 powered, rear-wheel drive Mercury Grand Marquis has been a mainstay in the marketplace since 1975. The Grand Marquis is one of few sedans sold with a front bench seat allowing for six passenger accommodations.
