The GL-Class series comes in three trim levels: the GL350 with the BlueTEC V6 diesel engine which gives it extraordinary fuel-efficiency for an SUV this size. The GL450 comes with a 4.6L V8, and the GL550 with a 5.5L V8, giving it extraordinary pulling capability as well as 21" AMG alloy wheels and a huge Mercedes-Benz medallion on the grille. Each model has 4-wheel drive, a 7,500-lb towing capacity, a 7-speed transmission and the PRE-SAFE system.
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class is a full size seven passenger luxury SUV available in GL350 BlueTEC, GL450, and GL550 trim levels. The 4WD GL350 BlueTEC is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine producing 210 hp. Equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission the GL350 BlueTEC achieves 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. The GL450 and GL550 trims are available with 4.6-liter/5.5-liter V8 engines that produce 335/382 hp. Both trims come with 4-wheel Electronic Traction System and 7-speed automatic transmission. The GL450 gets an EPA estimated 13 mpg city and 18 mpg highway while the GL550 gets a comparable 12 mpg city and 17 mg highway. Options include blind spot assist, illumination kit, rear seat entertainment system, and heated multi-function steering wheel. Electronic stability program, brake assist, antilock brake system, rearview camera, and 13-way airbag protection comprise safety features.
