Special features for 2011
The 2011 Mazda2 is aimed directly at the subcompact economy car market, taking on competitors such as the Chevrolet Aveo, Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit and Nissan Versa. Like the competition, the car is fairly basic overall, it does offer 100 horsepower from its 1.5-L inline four, and its sporty handling makes it a great choice for buyers looking to achieve excellent economy without sacrificing fun.
The 2011 MAZDA2 is a 5-door FWD subcompact equipped with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 100 hp and 98 lb-ft of torque. Transmissions include a standard 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The small hatchback gets an EPA estimated 28 mpg city and 35 mpg highway with the standard manual transmission. The automatic transmission puts out similar numbers with an EPA estimated 28 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. Standard options include ABS, traction control, electric power steering, keyless entry, air conditioning, and 15-inch wheels. Upgrading to the Touring trim adds alloy wheels, halogen fog lights, rear liftgate spoiler, chrome exhaust outlet, cruise control with steering-wheel-mounted controls, touring cloth-trimmed seats with red piping, and a six-speaker sound system. The MAZDA2 is eligible for an extended protection plan up to 10 years/100,000 miles.
