The mighty Turbo version is only available with AWD and adds twin-turbos to the V8 to produce 500 hp. All versions are equipped with the Porsche PDK dual-clutch transmission which can be driven smoothly or be used to snap off lightning quick shifts. The Panamera is also home to a unique start-stop system which can shut the engine off at complete stops to help conserve fuel, it turns back on as soon as the brake pedal is released.

All new for 2010, the Porsche Panamera is offered in three separate models: The rear-wheel drive S, the all-wheel drive 4S, and the all-wheel drive Turbo. The S and 4S are powered by a 4.8L V8 making 400 horsepower, while the top of the line Turbo gets twin turbochargers, which bumps power output to 500 hp. Porsche's PDK 7-speed automatic transmission is the only available gearbox.
Competitive comparison
Unmistakable styling, Porsche-standard performance and luxury, seating for four in well-appointed interior.
Special features for 2010
Launched in 2010, the Panamera is Porsche's first 4-door 4-seat grand tourer. Its basic design is a complete departure from most of Porsche's rear and mid-engine sports car tradition, utilizing a front-mounted engine. The styling is unmistakably Porsche, with hints of 911 throughout but with an elongated shape that provides comfortable seating in the rear--even for passengers over 6 feet tall. It's perfect for those looking for the comfort and room of a BMW 7-series or Mercedes-Benz S-Class, while wanting the performance and handling that is Porsche's trademark.
