For 2009, Suzuki has crossed into new brand territory in the United States. Suzuki's first mid-sized pickup truck, the Equator premieres in 2009 as an extended cab or crew cab. A restyled version of the Nissan Frontier, the 2009 Suzuki Equator boasts power from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or a 261-horsepower, 4.0-liter V-6 permitting up to 6,500 pounds of towing capacity. The powerplant range for the 2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara is all-new. Serving as the new base engine for the compact sport utility vehicle is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. A new six-cylinder engine is expanded to a 3.2 liter displacement size generating 230 horsepower. Originally offered exclusively with all-wheel drive, the hatchback crossover version of the Suzuki SX4 is now available as a lower-cost front-wheel drive in 2009. The Forenza sedan and Reno hatchback were discontinued following the 2008 model year.
