A nod to Saab's relationship with aerospace, the JAS 39 Griffin (Gripen) fighter plane's name has been adopted by the 2009 9-5 as a new upscale trim level. The 2009 Saab 9-5 Griffin models include a number of flashy styling touches and adds rear backup sensors as standard equipment. The 4.2i and 5.3i versions of the Saab 9-7X gain a new Altitude Edition package as a limited edition vehicle with a unique exterior finish, polished 18-inch wheels and standard rear seat entertainment system. Bluetooth connectivity is now standard on the Saab 9-3 and 9-7X for 2009.
