Special features for 2009
The 2009 Pontiac G8 straddles the line between sophisticated sport sedan and buff muscle car, offering handling that's better than many rivals but with firm yet comfortable touring comfort. Compared with pricier European sport sedans, it is an especially strong value.
The 2009 Pontiac G8 is a carryover from 2008 in which it was introduced. The Pontiac G8 is available in a base trim and the sportier GT. Also launching this year is the GXP trim, with a 6.2L V8 making 402 hp. The base trim utilizes a 256-hp 3.6L V6 and a 5-speed automatic, while the GT gets the 361-hp 6.0L V8 and a 6-speed automatic. 2009 Pontiac G8 safety features include 6 airbags, 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, OnStar and tire pressure monitoring all standard. Also included are sport suspension, 18-in alloy wheels and XM satellite radio. The GT features automatic dual-zone climate control, a premium 6-disc Blaupunkt sound system, performance tires and a limited slip differential. Optional features for the 2009 Pontiac G8 include a power sunroof and heated seats which are available on both trims, as well as 19-in alloy wheels which are available on the 2009 G8 GT. The V6 achieves 17 mpg city/25 mpg hwy and the V8 gets 15/25 mpg. Bluetooth is now standard on all G8 models. Keep your eyes peeled for the G8 truck, think El Camino, which debuts sometime in 2009.
