2009 model year changes
The GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD see few changes for 2009. An updated version of OnStar offers both turn-by-turn navigation and is Bluetooth compatible, and XM satellite radio now provides real-time traffic reports, known as NavTraffic. Electronic stability control is now standard on both 2- and 4-wheel drive extended and crew cab models with a standard cargo box. A rearview camera that does not require the navigation system is now also available. New colors include Carbon Black Metallic and Midnight Blue Metallic, while Dark Blue Metallic and Medium Brown Metallic have been discontinued.
Professional grade tool for work; durability; versatility; a plethora of choices.
Special features for 2009
The 2009 GMC Sierra HD lineup has the segment-best gross combined weight rating of up to 18,500 pounds, and the segment-best trailer weight rating of 13,000 pounds--both important numbers considering their intended duty as heavy haulers and commercial rigs. And with extensive noise-reduction measures, it has one of the quietest interiors among heavy-duty trucks.
Largely unchanged for 2009, the GMC Sierra 2500HD three-quarter-ton pickup truck offers a wide range of choices. In addition to two- or four-wheel drive, the selection includes three cab designs, three cargo box styles and five wheelbase lengths — plus Work Truck, SLE and SLT trim levels. The Sierra 2500HD is powered by a standard 6.0L V8 engine with 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque or the 6.6L turbo-diesel V8 engine, attached to a six-speed automatic, heavy-duty, electronically controlled transmission with overdrive and tow/haul mode. In addition, the Sierra 2500HD can seat up to six passengers, depending on the trim level. GMC Sierra 2500HD standard safety features include frontal, driver and right-front passenger airbags; four-wheel antilock disc brakes; and the OnStar communications system. EPA-estimated fuel economy figures are not available.
