2009 model year changes
The GMC Sierra sees some important changes for 2009, including the availability of a new gas/electric hybrid model, as well as a new 6.2L Vortec V8 engine, which can run on E85 ethanol-blended fuel. Also new for that engine, is a 6-speed automatic transmission, XM satellite radio, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity and a rearview camera system. The 4-speed super-duty transmission has been deleted, as have the paint colors Dark Blue Metallic and Desert Brown Metallic. New standard features on SLT models include a rear locking differential, trailer package and remote start. StabiliTrak stability control is now only available on V8 model Sierras.
Refinement; interior appointments; fuel economy; tow rating; available luxury features.
Special features for 2009
To cater to the wide range of customers and their uses for full-size pickups, GMC is wisely offering two completely different interiors for the new Sierra, resulting in products that are both functional and luxurious. Prices are very competitive with other full-size trucks, and the new 6.2L Vortec V8, putting out 403 hp, outguns the Toyota Tundra's V8 as the most powerful engine in its class. With the highest tow rating among light-duty pickups (up to 10,500 pounds), and now with a new gas-electric drivetrain, the Sierra is very competitive among full-size pickups.
